“Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty or riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me.” Proverbs 30:8 English Standard Version.

Before I Learned How to Abide:

There’ve been years of my life I believed God only loved me as a tiny piece of His big church. I believed I wasn’t special because I didn’t matter in the big scheme of this universe for any eternal purpose. I believed I wasn’t Christian enough, woman enough, mother enough, wife enough, accomplished enough, or enough of anything to really matter. When I opened the Bible it just seemed like a bunch of ancient stories (which I accepted as truth but didn’t know had the power to speak into my everyday life).

This belief system sent my husband and I chasing the music industry for a bit but left us empty—not only inside but financially as well. These beliefs sent me changing course wherever the wind blew instead of where the Spirit led. I followed after anything the world offered because hey… a girl with this belief system lives from one fun, meaningless moment to the next. It also, left me second-guessing decisions and riddled with anxiety because I didn’t seek the Father’s guidance.

Through my life I meandered–just getting through the days—never pressing forward purposely. Gorging on the world’s buffet yet I still felt empty. I knew I had the Holy Spirit, but not the same amount as my pastor or Billy Graham.

In church, the message fell on an absent mind because when you believe that God only speaks corporately, you’re not listening for what He’s saying to you personally.

If this is where you are spiritually, stop feeding yourself the lie. This is one of the biggest deceptions that keeps Christianity on a lukewarm hotplate.

Here’s the Truth…

If you’ve accepted Christ as your personal Savior, you are a child of the King. God created you for a specific purpose that will bring eternal value. You have just as much of His power and Spirit as the great preachers, like Billy Graham.

The Bible states: “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalms 139:13 ESV)

“Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:7 ESV)”

And God wants a two-way communication with you. Yes, you.

I stopped accepting the enemy’s junk food when I learned how to abide in the Father, when I learned how to hear His voice speak into my spirit, and when I allowed the Father to spiritually feed me with the nutrition I lacked. I’m tuned in to Him—not by hearing His voice in an audible way, but by listening to the Father through His Word. He brings truth into my life and circumstances, but He also disciplines and admonishes me, warns me of spiritual attacks, provides guidance, grows my wisdom, strengthens my faith, and blankets me with His peace.

And, He’s speaking all of this into your spirit too…but you may be where I was… not listening because you’ve accepted this falsehood that you’re not enough, or maybe you never learned how to hear Him.

Do You Want to Learn?

Last weekend, The Hallelujah House team gathered around a table at the farmhouse. We taped our first podcast Abiding in the Vine: Hearing God’s Voice. It is a study written by Richard and Linda Case from All for Jesus Ministries.

I chose this study because it has been a life-changer, not only for my marriage, but for me, personally. It has helped me stop believing the lies the enemy dishes out and has brought me to hear His truth and purpose for my life. It has allowed me to be more vulnerable in my mission to bring others to the truth of the gospel.

I firmly believe one of the biggest ways to prepare your heart, home, and harvest is by learning how to hear God’s voice.

We are now in the process of editing this podcast, and soon it will be posted on our site. (Hence why there’s been fewer blog post lately) You will be able to subscribe via email and go through each unit in the comfort of your own home.  To get the most out of this study, you will need the workbook that can be purchased from Amazon at the following link: Abiding in the Vine: Hearing God’s Voice. I know you will find this study a life-changer just as I have, and I look forward to hearing your questions and comments regarding it.

            Until next time…
